Fonseca KDT Cadetes Cuban Cigars
- Size: 4 1/2 x 36
- Strength: Mild
Don Francisco Fonseca founded his brand in the 1890’s.
A handsome man, who cared deeply for appearances, he passed his sartorial precision on to his cigars, which he dressed in silky tissue paper – a tradition that continues to this day on all the Habanos that bear his name.
Fonseca’s delicate blend of filler and binder tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo zone makes it the ideal Habano to follow a light meal.
Fonseca’s short-filler size also incorporates tobacco leaves from Semi Vuelta zone.
All sizes of Fonseca are Totalmente a Mano – totally hand made – with three being Tripa Larga or long filler and one Tripa Corta or short filler.

From the same box, some of these cigars were good, some were like smoking dowels…so tightly packed that it felt like I was trying to pull a golf ball through a garden hose…quite mild, on the shorter end of smoking sessions.

These are the mildest cigars I have ever smoked. If you don’t like mild cigars these are not for you. One of the fun things with these cigars is you can leave the white rice paper on the cigar as you smoke it.
These are long filler. So the flavour or the cigar gets stronger as you smoke it down. That transition of intensity is the most profound of any cigar I’ve smoked. It is not a strong or intense cigar it is how much the intensity of the flavour changes as you smoke it. If you like these cigars you will likely be smoking then as far down the stick as you can. Just don’t burn your fingers.
Good cigar to pick up if you like mild cigars. These are likely the mildest you will ever find.
