Cigar Chief x Escobar Premium Blend Connecticut Robusto
- Size: 5 x 52
- Strength: Medium
Introducing Cigar Chief’s 2024 House Blend, a masterful creation born from a partnership with Escobar Cigars. Expertly crafted at the renowned PDR cigar factory in the Dominican Republic by legendary master blender Abe Flores, this premium cigar showcases exceptional craftsmanship and aged quality.
The Cigar Chief Premium Blend Connecticut Robusto boasts a visually striking curly head and a closed foot, adding a touch of elegance to the experience before the first puff. The cigar is wrapped in a high-priming Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, aged for an extended period to deliver an even smoother and richer flavor profile. Inside, the 5-year-aged filler tobacco—a blend of Criollo 98 from the Dominican Republic and Broadleaf from the US—offers depth and complexity, balanced by a Piloto Dominican binder.
Upon lighting, the closed foot ensures a concentrated burst of flavours, immediately engaging your palate. The medium-strength blend provides a creamy, smooth start thanks to the high-quality, aged Connecticut wrapper. As the cigar progresses, the rich combination of aged fillers and the complex Piloto DR binder introduces a nuanced blend of earthiness and subtle sweetness, creating a satisfying and refined finish that seasoned aficionados and newcomers alike will appreciate.

Really great smoke especially for the price. Smoked like a super premo cigar. Definitely will order again

The first 25% was a tough draw. The remaining 75% offered rich smoke, even burn and a quality experience which was enhanced by the smooth quality connecticut wrapper. Evaluating this on the last 75% I had a good experience that lasted quite awhile. Perhaps more time aging would change this? I plan to age some in the humidor over the next year and re-evaluate.

This review is based off of only one cigar.
– First impressions, cigar looks nice but had an unusual smell and raw draw taste. Perhaps due to the aged tobacco(?)
– Didn’t like the first third too much taste wise.
– Build quality: Wrapper split and unraveled in the first five minutes of smoking.
– Second Third tasted much better and the smoke was much richer. The split continued but the ash was strong.
My overall impression: I guess I expected more from the Premium line than I got. I much prefer the other house blends from Cigar Chief and I don’t think I would buy this offering again.

I’ve had these multiple times now and every time has been excellent. Not overly complex but a tasty well constructed stick.
