Scored 90 by Cigar Aficionado, Don Tomas Clasico Presidente is a large 7 1/2 x 50 cigar of medium strength. It wears a Criollo wrapper over a Dominican Olor binder and Dominican filler.
Don Tomas is one of the best known brands to come from Honduras, and the Clasico line was relaunched in late 2005 with a reworked blend. The aim was to return to the brand’s roots with a hearty, no nonsense cigar. The profile tends to be toasty, woody and slightly sweet.
The line was named to Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 list in 2006 and was hailed as a “Best Buy” in Cigar Insider. It is flawlessly constructed of well aged tobaccos, which suits the smoker who wants rich taste.
The long Don Tomas Clasico Presidente format gives you plenty of time with that classic Honduran heritage, which makes it a good match for an unhurried sitting.

Cigar Chiefs records will show that I have purchased the robusto Classico, as well as the Presidente. My latest box of Presidentes are poor. The box is different, wrapper and band also. All inferior to the previous Don Tomás buys. Also had to take a drill bit to every cigar so far, as the draw was terrible!!

Well, I have had time to settle down. Felt like I needed to revise my review. With the exception of the poor draw, the taste and aroma are up to Don Tomás standard. Cigar Chief gets 5 stars and, will continue to get 100% of my cigar $

From reading past reviews, it appears that Don Tomas had a construction problem a few years ago. That is no longer the case. The draw is still a bit tight especially in the first third. However they have an even burn, no need to “touch up” and the taste suits my palette. Medium to full flavour.
I have mostly bought the Habano Robustos in the past and never had any issues with the draw.

Good ash, construction is fine. A plain smoke. No real taste. Fine for cigars at a wedding.
