The standout differentiator of the AJ Fernandez New World Oscuro Robusto is its bold Nicaraguan puro blend wrapped in a dark Oscuro leaf that delivers rich, full bodied flavour with consistent depth. Built entirely from Nicaraguan tobaccos, this box pressed Robusto features filler from Ometepe, Condega, and Estelí, a Jalapa binder, and a dark, oily wrapper that enhances intensity while maintaining balance.
Expect a medium to full bodied profile with notes of cocoa, espresso, earth, and spice, supported by subtle sweetness and a smooth, even burn. The 5 1/2 x 55 Robusto format offers a dense, flavour forward smoke with excellent draw and construction, making it a reliable choice for those who prefer shorter, more concentrated sessions.

A strong cigar with nice flavors. Decent draw but had a terrible canoeing burn. I will try more and update my review for the burning issue. Overall I give it an 89.

Cold draw – Straight cut; earthly and woodsy character.
1/3 – On the initial light I got tons of smoke output. Throughout the first 10 mins I experienced some deep complex wood and earthly note accompanied with a long espresso finish. Nice retro hale aroma, nice and gentle. I find the pack is light so the smoking time is fast. Full bodied with mild strength.
2/3 – Noticed some dark coca and nuts flavour. The profile of the nuts is geared towards hazelnut and Brazilian nuts, very oily. Very complex flavours not one sided, medium finish.
3/3 – On the final third the full body continues and the strength transitioned to medium. Lots of mature dense wood aroma not so much cedar. Some baking spice showed up on the back end.
Overall – Beautiful box pressed cigar with a draw that is superb, fantastic construction. This has been in my humidor for a little over 3 months. I would recommend to pair this with a light coffee. In terms of spirits I would think it would go well with something sweet but not over powering such as a lowland scotch or any speyside. Personally, I would give it 93/100. What a delicious smoke.

Over the years of smoking these I’ve had a variety of experiences with this one from “this might be my favorite cigar ever!” To, “well, that was just okay.”
This last one was aged for close to a year and it tasted like an Oh Henry bar, generously sprinkled with cayenne and left to sit over a campfire for twenty minutes. Yum! Medium to long finish.
Really tasty and worth the price in my opinion, because it’s a pretty reasonably priced stick.
