Escobar Maduro Distinguidos Romeo
- Size: 5 1/2 x 52
- Strength: Medium-Full
Escobar Maduro Premium Cigars are a hand-crafted medium-bodied cigar with a perfectly smooth draw and a long lingering finish. They are a blend of three vintage sun grown and aged Habano tobaccos grown specifically in the rich volcanic soil of Nicaragua. These blended and balanced flavors of the Escobar Cigar are dominated by chocolate and black pepper flavor, dry coffee and firewood that sticks strongly to the palate with delicious density and possesses a persistent flavor of roasted nuts and wood smoke. These flavors are blended to provide the complexity of the Escobar Cigar, thanks to the fermentation and aging process that only Puros Privados offers from generations of skilled Cuban cigar makers.

So, I purchased 5 of these Escobar’s. Three maduro and two naturals. So far, I have smoked two of the maduro and one of the naturals. All three seemed to have the same issues. Construction seems to have some challenges. I did, however, enjoy the maduro flavors once the draw and burn issues subsided in the second third of the cigars. The maduro reminds me of the Brick house maduro. I think if they can get the construction issues worked out these have the potential of being really great cigars, but value for your dollar I think the Brick house is a better more consistent cigar.

Bought a box of these at an excellent price. Well, you get what you pay for. The first cigar was so plugged i couldn’t get a draw of it at all. After several pokes with a draw tool. And getring past the figuerado shape at start if finally opened up. The flavours were decent but not knock your socks off. Chocolate and espresso being the main tones. Then the cigar seemed to plug up again in the last third. Overall a very underwhelming smoke, despite the beautiful box presentation. All style and no substance. Save yourself some money and get the Paul Stulac San Andreas Post Script instead. It’s a better cigar experience at half the price.

These punch above their weight. They aren’t the best of the best but, they are worth every penny. I’ve gone through about 50 over the last year & bit.

Interesting stick, Smooth, a little cocoa & sweetness, hot stone & earthy note. Mild. Good daily morning smoke. 3.5/5 OK good for the price

Great stick and amazing value at this price point. Some chocolate and coffee flavours . I have smoked a bunch of these now and have had zero construction issues.

Order 13 sticks at $6.98 per stick 50% discount.
Pros:
1. Nice burn with tons of smoke, oily San Andres maduro smell, very nice.
2. Good chocolate, cocoa, and sweetness in mouth and through retrohale.
Cons:
1. The tail of the cigar is compressed too tight, as stiff as a wooden stick
2. Bad draw due to above construction issue
If you bought this cigar from June 2025 to Jan. 2026, maybe the batch received by Cigar Chief has this construction issue. I am guessing the Chief’s employees probably checked the reviews and physically checked the sticks and offered a 50% due to the construction issue.
This would be a great $12-$14 cigar if there’s no construction issue, the oily San Andres wrapper provides great flavor and it is a tasty stick.
However, given the draw issue, I would say it would be a great cigar at only $6-$8 dollar range.
You might need to bring a tooth pick with you to open it up a bit so it draws better.
At a $8 range, I would say the Paul Stulac Post Script San Andres provides a better experience (though flavor-wise Escobar maduro is better).
At $14 range, I wouldn’t hesitate to apply 10% Mon-Thur discount and get some EP Carrillo Essence Maduro that has the same oily San Andres Maduro taste, or even go up a few dollars to buy the AJ Fernandez San Lotano Maduro or New World Oscuro.
So, I would give a 5 star if it has no construction issue and at a lower price than $13.95
