Rocky Patel DBS Robusto stands out for its double broadleaf selection blend that uses both Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania broadleaf in the core and binder for a deeper, more savoury profile. This 5 1/2 x 50 Robusto is hand rolled at TAVICUSA in Nicaragua and dressed in a Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper over a dual broadleaf binder from Nicaragua and the United States with Honduran and Nicaraguan broadleaf rich fillers. The result is a medium to full bodied smoke with warm notes of espresso, chocolate, toffee like sweetness, earth, wood, and spice carried on dense, aromatic draws. Solid construction, a steady burn, and its versatile Robusto size make DBS a compelling option for smokers who enjoy maduro depth and broadleaf intensity in a refined format.

Really enjoyed the first half—earthy, rich, with cocoa and pepper layered nicely. Draw was smooth, burn was clean. But halfway through, it lost some balance and got a bit harsh. Still, solid construction. I’d smoke it again with a strong espresso or rye, but I wish it stayed like the first few inches.
