Alec Bradley Gatekeeper Robusto was developed with Ernesto Perez Carrillo. It wraps an Ecuadorian Habano leaf around Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos, creating a medium bodied blend in a compact 5 x 50 format. The partnership opened the gates to new tobaccos and techniques for Alec and Bradley Rubin.
A Nicaraguan binder holds Nicaraguan and Dominican long fillers beneath the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Clean, structured cedar gives the blend its backbone. Smooth, toasted nuts add warmth and roundness, and savoury leather brings depth and a classic richness to the profile.
The Robusto’s 5 inch length and 50 ring gauge keep the blend focused, so the cedar, nut and leather notes come through clearly in a shorter smoke. Rye pairs well, since its spice and oak highlight the cedar. Pinot Noir also works, because its bright fruit contrasts with the leather.
Alec Bradley Gatekeeper Robusto was the second release from the Rubin brothers, rolled at Ernesto Perez Carrillo’s factory in the Dominican Republic. It reflects their growth as second generation cigar makers. It suits smokers who want a balanced, medium bodied cigar with refined wood and nut character in a classic size.
