Created as a collaboration involving Drew Estate, Metallica’s James Hetfield, and Blackened American Whiskey’s late master distiller Rob Dietrich, M81 is built for smokers who want a dark, powerful, Maduro-forward cigar with substantial body and complexity.
Known as “Maduro to the Core,” Blackened M81 uses a Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper, a Connecticut River Valley Broadleaf Maduro binder, and a filler blend of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro tobaccos. The all-Maduro construction gives the cigar a dense, deeply saturated profile, while the Toro format offers a smooth draw, thick smoke output, and an extended 60- to 75-minute smoking session.
Expect bold notes of espresso, baker’s cocoa, dark chocolate, leather, charred oak, earth, smoked wood, black pepper, and subtle cinnamon. A natural sweetness develops beneath the spice and dark tobacco intensity, creating a profile reminiscent of a rich mocha accented with pepper. The finish is robust, smoky, and satisfying.
