About Brick House Cigars
J.C. Newman launched Brick House; a true Cuban puro cigar made with the finest Havana tobaccos. To honor his family and heritage, J.C. modeled the Brick House label after his childhood home – the only brick house in their small, Hungarian village. Locals and visitors would gather at the house nightly to eat, drink, smoke and enjoy each other’s company. But with the Great Depression came the end of the Brick House.
Over 80 years later, grandsons Eric and Bobby Newman relaunched Brick House using the most exquisite Nicaraguan tobaccos carefully hand-rolled by master artisans. Aged in the mountains of Nicaragua, every Brick House cigar is a melding of flawless construction, superb quality and master blend.
An overnight sensation, the Brick House brand has become one of the most talked about cigars on the internet and a best seller nationwide. Awards include the Best Bargain Cigar and a place in the Top 25 Cigars by Cigar Aficionado in addition to numerous blog and website awards.

I had to give it a four cause it’s a good around cigar. Good draw Good burn and good smoke output. Now, leave this little gem in your humidor for a while ( 3 months for me ). Turns this good cigar to a great one ! Great bang for your buck

One of my favorite cigars is BRICK HOUSE MADURO ROBUSTO. It has a beautiful aroma before and after being lit. The dark wrapper and band is nicely put together. At first light, the cigar has a bit of a bite, almost peppery, woody taste, but doesn’t take long to smooth out to be a nice medium smoke to the end. The burn is nice and even with hardly ever needing a touchup and leaves a nice ash. The price is extremely affordable!! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to try a mild/bold maduro smoke for a reasonable price and doesn’t burn too fast or take all day to smoke. I am mostly a maduro cigar fan, and this one is in the top 3 for me.

A very good smoke. They start out strong but quickly become a medium strength. Good, even burn and they keep their flavour all the way through. Nice 5″ size for when you don’t want a lengthy smoke but they still have a slow burn.
I have always been a big fan of Nicaraguan cigars and these are a treat. I’ll be ordering them again the next time I want a Maduro Robusto.

There are some complexities to this smoke. Spicy leather, cacao, anise, apple crumble, and as in the Pinot Noir world of wine… a barnyard flavour. Not offensive at all. Really quite interesting tastes going on throughout. Very enjoyable. Would buy again.

This Cigar is on of the hidden treasures of this Cigar World! A constant performer with a nice draw and a strong bold flavour! I can’t say enough about these little jewels!!

What a fantastic little gem !!!
Great when paired with a smokey single malt Scotch after dinner. Very smooth draw and with lots of smoke…deep flavours of leather and pepper. Build quality is exceptional. Nothing negative about this cigar at all, enjoyable right to the end with more complexities as you past the half way mark. Expect an easy hour and 15 minutes of joy!!! Easily top 5 on my list …make room in your humidor. ENJOY !!!

I would put this stuck up against anything twice as expensive and still put my money on the Brick House Robusto Maduro! Great Cigar and I recommend having a few in your humidor and with age, they are still good. One of my Nicaraguan favorites!

Brick House robustos are easily one of the best bang for your buck smokes available. Highly recommended.

Good cigar, decent smoke but still has a strong bite. Rather full flavor, the robusto gaige was exqusite to sit and enjoy the cigar but it still left much to be desired. Especially if we’re comparing it to the affordability and enjoyability of a nice Rocky Patel’s The Edge. I enjoyed the 5pk of these Brickhouse but likely will not return to them unless they’re other than a maduro wrap. Still a good smoke despite my criticisms.

Honestly, I cannot echo everyone’s sentiments enough. Great construction, great burn. Dark chocolate, espresso, slight spice and leather. Medium to slightly stronger flavour. I smoked outside in windy, sub zero temperatures. A nice warm spring day would have made this experience much better. Would definitely consider buying a box once available.

J’ai l’impression de fumer un cotex, dur a tirer ( rouler serré), goûte la bouche d’égout et surtout le prix est élevé pour ce cigar qui ne vaut pas l’investissement. Désagréable.

I didn’t enjoy this cigar. Very mild, no complexity, no variety in the taste from beginning to end, no creaminess. I wouldn’t buy again and I put it out 3/4 in because I was bored with it. That’s after letting it age a bit in my humidor, very disappointed considering the reviews.

One tried one so far, burn was a bit uneven. I bought 2 so I’ll see if the second one is any better.

Not a good smoke, not a good quality budget option. For the same price you can get a ton of better options! And for a few bucks more you can have a much better premium stick!

Tried it again and it was so boring, no big flavour and honestly this doesn’t compare to the other cigars at all on the site for the same or lesser price

A smooth cigar start to finish. For the price it is worthy. Did not rank 5 as it lacks some taste elements of other maduros. Not dissapointed though,………….

Great cigar for the price, great draw, even burn, not the tastiest cigar ever but will definitely buy again.

First Look
The dark brown of the maduro wrapper immediately stands out. The wrapper is mostly smooth with a little texture – like a high-quality work boot that’s seen enough time in the world to have lost its box-fresh sheen, letting you feel the leather grain; it feels comfortable and dependable in the hand.
Cut & Light
I use a straight guillotine cutter, leaving a bit of the cap intact for a clean cut. I didn’t focus much on the cold draw, but it feels denser than average, which I prefer. For lighting, I carve cedar spills from cigar box liners and light those with my Zippo. Using the spills allows me to keep the flavour of the lighter fluid from transferring to the cigar. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I find it’s a reliable way to get an even light, toasting the edges thoroughly before the first few lighting puffs.
Draw & Burn
One of my favorite things about the Brick House line is how well the ash holds – firm and consistent throughout the smoke. The burn is generally solid, though a little correction is sometimes needed to avoid canoeing early on. The draw can be inconsistent; some cigars are packed lightly and some more densely. I prefer the firmer ones, which are more common in this line. The lighter-packed sticks tend to have too loose a draw, requiring harder pulls to get enough smoke, which risks inhaling.
Flavor Profile
The first few puffs bring a light smoky note with just a hint of bitterness – milder than espresso or black coffee. I like to pair mine with a hot or iced vanilla latte, which complements the subtle bitterness and smooth smoke nicely.
As the cigar progresses, the flavors deepen steadily. You get more spice and richer smoke, but it stays mellow and balanced – no harsh punches, just a gradual build in intensity.
If I had to pick a soundtrack for this cigar, it would be “Under the Bridge” by Red Hot Chili Peppers – mellow, steady, and soulful with just enough spice to keep it interesting.
Strength & Finish
The only time it feels heavy is if the smoke blows back into your eyes – and honestly, any cigar would sting in that case. Otherwise, it’s a smooth medium body. The aftertaste leaves a feeling of lightness, not lightheadedness, but a cool, refreshing breath that lingers. It’s perfect for a calm moment by a lakeside campfire.
Who This Is For & When to Enjoy
As a blue-collar worker myself, I’m always on the lookout for cigars that deliver good value without breaking the bank. At a regular Cigar Chief price of $13 and small change, the Brick House Maduro Robusto offers a decent smoke time and solid experience.
This is the kind of cigar you want during your downtime – especially outdoors and in warmer weather. Whether you’re relaxing on the deck, by a campfire, or on a 40-minute to hour-long drive, it fits the moment perfectly.
Bonus for On-the-Go Smoking
The ash holds on with surprising strength and consistency. That means you don’t have to worry too much about bumps in the road shaking loose the ash unexpectedly – a real plus if you’re smoking while driving or moving around outdoors. This reliability makes it well suited for those times where you just want to get out on the road and clear your head with a drive that doesn’t have to be going somewhere to get you where you need to be.
Final Thoughts
The Brick House Robusto Maduro isn’t luxurious, but it doesn’t feel like it’s trying to be. I appreciate it for its consistency, reliability, and enough flavor to keep your attention from first light to the final inch. For the price, it punches above its weight with a profile that leans earthy, slightly sweet, and just bold enough to feel like you’re getting your money’s worth.
You’re likely to run into a couple of more lightly packed sticks in a box, but they’re not going to ruin the overall experience if you’re expecting and accepting the occasional deviation from the norm. Touch-ups are routine, and while it’s not flawless, it’s a cigar I keep coming back to when I want something dependable, affordable, and enjoyable enough to make time for.
In Summary
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly Maduro that delivers consistent flavor and a reliable smoke, the Brick House Robusto Maduro is a solid choice. It’s not about extravagance, but about dependable enjoyment – perfect for those moments when you want to relax without fuss or a hefty price tag. Whether you’re sitting by a campfire, on a deck, or on a drive, it can be counted on to hold up well and deliver a satisfying experience… Almost every time.
