Calixto López Corona Exquisitos is a mild, totally handmade Philippine cigar in a classic 5 1/2 x 43 corona format, made by Tabacalera Incorporada using methods that have not changed in generations. It is a traditional Manila cigar with a gentle, easygoing character.
The blend is rated mild, in keeping with the Manila cigar tradition. Tabacalera Incorporada still makes its cigars the same way, totalmente hecho a mano, or totally handmade, and some of its wood presses are more than a hundred years old.
The 5 1/2 x 43 corona is a classic, slender format that suits a relaxed, shorter smoke. Calixto López Corona Exquisitos is a good option for smokers who prefer mild strength and want a cigar with real history behind it.
The story begins in the late 17th century, when the Spanish galleon San Clemente carried 200 ounces of Cuban tobacco seeds along the Acapulco to Manila trade route to the Philippines. Spanish missionaries planted them in the Cagayan Valley in Isabela, a fertile region north of Manila named after Queen Isabela of Spain. With land and climate as favourable as Cuba’s, tobacco growing soon flourished across the archipelago and gave rise to a cigar making industry under colonial Spain. British writer Rudyard Kipling praised the Philippine cigar in his 1886 poem The Betrothed with the line “Here is a mild Manila”.

Bought some of these on spec a couple of weeks ago, and tried one out in my gazebo last night. Nice even burn, easy draw, and plenty of pleasant tasting mild smoke. Overall, an excellent smoke at an almost unbelievable bargain price. Will definitely add this to my list of regular smokes.

notes are pretty basic but you can definitivly taste spices , aside from that there’s not much going on on the flavour side .

5 stars overall mainly because it’s a great smoke for the price. As others have said it’s a mild cigar, nice amount of spice and leather, not too harsh on the retrohale either. Smoke is a little on the dry side, but to be expected from something at this price point. Not sure you could get much better for under $6, nice 20 minute smoke.

I was very surprised by the Calixto López Cigars Corona Exquisitos. They were very mild (which I prefer), with a light aroma (that my wife prefers), with good ash. Additionally, I smoke my cigars in several puffs at a time, so I often relight them. I was happy to note that there was no tunneling and that each relight was even. I will definitely buy again.

Calixto López was my introduction to cigars and this was decades ago. Now I’m not a person that will tell you that a cigar has hints of this and that. I will tell you though if I find a cigar is good or bad, if I like it or not. I’ve smoked premium cigars which I didn’t like and will not buy again. I like Calixto López as an every day smoke. Not expensive, a good taste and build for the price.

Agree with 4 star rating. For the price these are better than a lot. Great morning stick, with coffee, not complex or demanding. Also works on the course with a Modelo or crisp beer, easy casual smoke. Price is right because it turns off in the back 3rd – but don’t mind chucking a cheap stick once the best part is over.

I really enjoy the size of the cigar in that it is a smoke that is not too long.
Nice and mild without an agressive aftertaste especially over half way though
the smoke. I recommend it if you like me don’t want to be put off by a strong
