Casa Magna D. Magnus II Primus is a box pressed Nicaraguan puro with a 2007 Sun Grown Jalapa wrapper, built in a large 6 1/2 x 55 format. It is a Nicaraguan puro with a Cuban seed, and the vintage wrapper sets the D. Magnus line apart from the rest of Casa Magna.
The cigar offers a sweet, spicy smoke characterized by hints of cocoa, with a medium high to full intensity of flavours. It is a full flavoured experience that carries all the smoking pleasure you have come to expect from Casa Magna cigars. The box pressed shape gives the Gordo size a distinctive feel in the hand.
The blend was created by Manuel Quesada and Nestor Plasencia, who pair Quesada’s blending approach with Plasencia’s Nicaraguan leaf. The D. Magnus II line is almost identical to the original release, but it uses a different vintage of wrapper tobacco, grown in Jalapa and left to sit since 2007.
At Medium to Full strength, Casa Magna D. Magnus II Primus suits smokers who want rich Nicaraguan flavour in a generous ring gauge. The 55 ring gauge and 6 1/2 inch length make it the larger of the two D. Magnus II sizes, alongside the Optimus.

What a find! I highly recommend this mild to medium stogie. Burns wonderfully even for a good 90 minute smoke, with rich, multi-textured flavour settling in on the last third. 4/5 rating! Wonderful with a good scotch. Can’t think of a better way to spend an hour and half!
