Casa Turrent 1973 Torpedo is a box pressed Mexican cigar from the Casa Turrent 1973 series, a 5 1/2 x 50 torpedo with a Habano Criollo wrapper.
It comes from the same company that brought you Te Amo cigars, and from the oldest and largest grower in Mexico. Alberto and Alejandro Turrent, owners of Nueva Matacapan de Tabacos, are the first family of Mexico’s cigar industry, and they are also the largest grower of cigar tobacco in the country.
The wrapper is Mexican Habano Criollo San Andrés, the binder is Mexican, and the filler is a mix of Nicaraguan and Mexican tobaccos. The San Andrés maduro leaf they grow outside of Veracruz is world renowned for its quality, and many of America’s most popular premium cigar brands use their tobaccos. The 1973 series is made at the Casa Turrent factory in Mexico, in the same box pressed sizes as the 1901 series.

Certainly one of my top picks for a robust cigar. The flavor profile is medium to complex without being pretentious, gradually evolving for the length of the smoke. This is one of those rare cigars you can enjoy right down to the nub

Had to cut multiple times to get past the hard, tight packed tobacco so I could even get any draw. Flavor was lacking, smoke was thin and too peppery for my taste. Discarded before reaching the final third.

The construction on the box press is amazing! Burns very well despite being box pressed and the draw is perfect with the torpedo!

I find this cigar has very bitter flavour that starts at the end of the first 3rd and gets stronger as it goes on. Awful 😖
