For any of you in the Central Florida cigar scene, you may know of a brand called Jefe. There’s a guy named Scott who is fairly well known here, for one because he owns Jefe Cigars. But the larger reason for his fame in our local cigar industry is because he sells insurance to the cigar brands and retailers. If you know anything about insuring tobacco (I won’t bore you with the details), it is nearly impossible. Cigars are a very perishable product, highly flammable and are incredibly sensitive to weather and conditions. Who wants to insure that?! Scott has been at it for quite some time, making his presence at all the local cigar festivals and shops. I liked his cigars when I tried them. But this cigar I fell in love with. He uses a factory in Nicaragua that he is very secretive about and not much is known because he won’t tell me any major details. I used to hate hearing that word, undisclosed. But the truth is, after seeing how cut throat the cigar industry can be, I don’t blame him for wanting to protect his intellectual property. In the end, as much as I am here to educate myself and others, I’m here to find the best cigars available, and this, my friends, is one that woke me from a boring cigar run!
