Padrón Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro stands out for using ten year aged Nicaraguan tobaccos in a 6 x 52 box pressed toro that was crowned Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year with a 95 rating. This full bodied Nicaraguan puro wears a dark, oily Nicaraguan Habano Maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, delivering an intense, concentrated flavour profile of rich coffee, dark chocolate, earth, leather, and hearty spices with underlying sweetness. The shape is a sharply pressed parejo rather than a torpedo, and the construction is exemplary, providing an easy draw, razor straight burn, and thick, creamy smoke that lets the bold coffee and spice character build without turning harsh.
Released in 2009 to mark 45 years of Padrón cigar making, the No. 45 Maduro was originally based on private Family Reserve cigars once shared only at special dinners and never sold at retail. Handcrafted at Tabacos Cubanica S.A. in Nicaragua with tobaccos aged up to ten years, it showcases the most powerful expression in the Family Reserve series and is ideal for seasoned aficionados who enjoy deep, espresso driven Maduros with pronounced spice and a very long finish.

One of the best cigars I’ve had! The flavours, construction, burn time and smoke output were absolutely fantastic! Even though the price for just one cigar is very high, I would highly recommend giving it a try.
