Padrón Family Reserve No. 95 Maduro is a 4 3/4 x 60 round Nicaraguan robusto gordo created to honor what would have been José Orlando Padrón’s 95th birthday, using ten year aged Nicaraguan tobaccos from the company’s oldest reserves. This Nicaraguan puro wears a dark, chocolatey Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper and delivers a medium to full strength, full bodied profile built around mocha (a chocolate and coffee fusion), earth, cedar, dried fruit, grass, and red and black pepper. Reviewers also note evolving accents of nuttiness, leather, toast, mineral rich earth, vanilla, honeyed or marshmallow like sweetness, and occasional fruity sweetness reminiscent of banana, all carried by thick, dense smoke.
Construction is generally excellent, with an easy draw, strong ash, and a burn that may need periodic touch ups but maintains a straight burn line over the course of the smoke. As the first round Family Reserve vitola and the thickest ring gauge in the series, No. 95 Maduro is positioned as a limited, commemorative maduro for smokers who want a rich, mocha and earth driven Padrón in a compact but chunky 4 3/4 x 60 format.
