The Plasencia Cosecha 149 Azacualpa is a 6 x 52 Toro made from Honduran tobacco from the family’s 149th harvest in 2014, aged for seven years before it was rolled. It is Plasencia’s first all Honduran cigar, with a dark, oily Olancho San Agustín wrapper over a Jamastran binder. The filler blends Jamastran, Talanga and Olancho leaf, and Azacualpa is the longest of the three regular sizes.
The smoke opens with black pepper, cedar and baking spice, with a hint of earth. The middle brings dark chocolate, espresso and cream, and the finish carries toasted oak, spice and a touch of sweetness. The soft box press gives the cigar a rounded shape that sits comfortably in the hand, and the draw and burn stay even.
It is hand rolled with long filler at the Plasencia Tabacos de Oriente factory in Honduras. A copper, black and white band matches the dark wrapper.
