Romeo Y Julieta Wide Churchills Cuban Cigars
- Size: 5 1/8 x 55
- Strength: Medium
Winston Churchill became a devotee of Romeo Y Julieta, following his visit to Havana in 1946. His name has been commemorated by using it to describe the marque’s favorite cigar size – Romeo Y Julieta Churchills. Launched at the 12th Festival del Habano in 2010, the Wide Churchill boasts a 55 ring gauge to coincide with the trend for stouter girth vitolas. Romeo Y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Habano. Made using the Tripa Larga, Totalmente a Mano – long filler, totally made by hand – technique.

This fat lovely cigar is definitely my favorite. The draw is very smooth and full of flavors. As a beginner of Cuban cigars, I can assure you this one is the perfect cigar to start with, though the ring size is a bit wide. I’ve bought a box of it, and I will order more.

I gave it a 4 star for the simple fact the short Churchill was much more flavorful imo. Great tasting cigars non the less. Lightning fast shipping as always.

Ordered a cigar as part of the “cigar of the week”. Draw was a bit tight as well as flavours were very light. The cigar definitely needs aging, which is symptomatic of a broader trend with cuban cigars and their lack of quality control. Still tasted good but for the price, definitely better cigars out there.
The cigar came very well packaged and shipping was fast so as always, thank you Cigar Chief, my go to cigar supplier.

Smoked one with a box date of ’21 over the weekend and was surprised just how different the taste profile was on this cigar compared to the standard R&J Churchill. In contrast the flavour was not as complex on this cigar as I could only pick up two distinctive notes – grass and hay. This could be due to the fact that I was in an outdoor hot tub while smoking and perhaps the water vapor was throwing the flavours off.
Light to medium body and would definitely pick these up again but would prefer the standard Churchill size due to more complexity and flavour.
